James Rodriguez on Botafogo radar

RIO DE JANEIRO, June 23 (Xinhua) -- Botafogo is in talks with Al-Rayyan about the possibility of signing Colombian midfielder James Rodriguez, according to media reports in Brazil. The Rio de Janeiro club has offered 5.3 million U.S. dollars to prise the 30-year-old away from the Qatari outfit, the newspaper O Globo reported. It added that Rodriguez was open to the offer, though he is understood to prefer a return to Europe. Rodriguez is contracted to Al-Rayyan until next June. He has made just 14 appearances and scored six goals since joining the club from Everton last September. Botafogo is currently seventh in Brazil's 20-team Serie A standings, having earned a promotion to the top flight last November. The two-time top-flight champion has made a number of high-profile signings since American businessman John Textor purchased a majority stake in the club in December.

Transfer news LIVE: Man Utd's firm Ronaldo stance, Bale seals next club, Salah's Liverpool exit claims

Mo Salah accused of "threatening" Liverpool Reds legend Robbie Folwer has claimed Mohamed Salah was trying to threaten his club by insisting he'd be at Anfield next season. “What salary does a player in the top three in the world command,” Fowler wrote in his Mirror column. “He obviously believes it’s more than Liverpool are offering. But if my old club are running complex calculations, then so too is Salah - and it can never be a precise science. I think him saying no matter what happens with his contract, he’ll be at Anfield next year was clearly a threat. “His calculation is that if he gets to leave Liverpool next summer on a free, with his salary and with a big bonus because there’s no fee, he’ll get that level of wages. That can work, often does.” ( Image: CameraSport via Getty Images)

LIVE Transfer Talk: Bayern Munich eye Cristiano Ronaldo as Robert Lewandowski replacement

The summer transfer window is here, and there's plenty of gossip swirling about who's moving where. Transfer Talk brings you all the latest buzz on rumours, comings and goings and, of course, done deals! TOP STORY: Bayern's plan if Lewandowski leaves? Cristiano Ronaldo. Bayern Munich plan to replace Robert Lewandowski with Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo if the Poland international leaves this summer, according to a report by AS. Lewandowski has long been linked with a €40 million move to Barcelona, who made an opening bid earlier this week. The striker has a strong desire to leave Bayern and give himself a new challenge this summer and it appears Ronaldo has a similar mindset at Old Trafford, as it is becoming clearer that he wants to leave. With Manchester City and Liverpool having signed Erling Haaland and Darwin Nunez respectively, Ronaldo is losing faith that he can win titles with the Red Devils. He doesn't want to waste his final years at the elite level and fail to add to the achievements from throughout his career, while Bayern will fight for the Bundesliga crown again and be one of the main candidates to win the Champions League. The Portugal international's future could see him move to Bavaria, something that would be seen as a major coup for the Bundesliga champions and likely neutralise the blow of losing Lewandowski.
