As he enters the final year of his contract, Lewandowski, 33, has made it known that he wants to leave the German Champions this summer.

Joan Laporta, the president of Barcelona, and Xavi Hernandez, the manager, won't be happy with the most recent development.

Despite Chelsea and Manchester United's attention, he has his heart set on Barcelona. 

Bayern won't let him leave on the cheap, according to Sky Sports, and they'll only sell for £52 million. 

This will undoubtedly come as a huge blow to Barcelona, who is currently seeking to strengthen their team on a shoestring budget by hunting for cheap transfers and free agents. 

Given that the Spanish goliaths owe more than half a billion euros in debt, they are desperate to avoid incurring further expenses.

This has contributed to their readiness to let United, who are apparently close to reaching a £69 million deal for the Dutchman, get midfielder Frenkie de Jong. 

Lewandowski's £52 million price tag represents a significant boost above earlier estimates that he would fetch just £34 million. 

In 46 games last season, Lewandowski scored 50 goals, and he hasn't shown any symptoms of slowing down as he gets older. 

While progress on his departure is still being made slowly, the Bavarians wasted no time in bringing in Sadio Mane, an ex-Liverpool player, as his successor.

The £35 million deal brought the Senegal star to Bayern earlier this month. 

They have also strengthened their midfield with the £21 million acquisition of Ryan Gravenberch, who Erik ten Hag, the new manager of United, tried to sign at the very last minute.
