The planned demonstration by the pressure organisation Arise Ghana will go place as scheduled on Tuesday, June 28.
On the New Day programme with Berla Mundi on TV3 on Monday, June 27, one of the leaders, Bernard Mornah, said this.
He declared, "The demonstration is progressing according to plan."
After the Police challenged their action in court for a discrepancy in the timing and place, Mr. Mornah made his remarks.
The Police indicated in a statement released on Sunday, June 26, that they pleaded with the organisers to reconsider the time period and begin the demonstration early in the day and stop it before dusk in the interest of Public Order and safety.
However, "the Police have had no choice but to submit the procedure to the court for a ruling due to the lack of agreement between the Police and the organisers on the time for protest and place for their intended picketing. On June 20, 2022, a letter was properly used to inform Arise Ghana of this.
Since then, the matter has been registered with the court, and the hearing is set for tomorrow, Monday, June 27, 2022.
On June 28, 2022, the organisation intended to begin a series of protests that would finish in front of the government building. The protests would begin at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle Interchange/Obra Spot.
According to a statement the organisation had previously released, "We shall march from the Nima Police Station street to the Arko-Agyei inter-change and terminate at the Frontage of the Jubilee House where we will picket till 10PM."
They stated that the demonstration was being held "to protest against the insensitive Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government's continued and astronomical increases in fuel prices that have imposed excruciating economic hardships on Ghanaians; protest against the imposition of the obnoxious E-Levy on the already burdened Ghanaian people."
"Demand a full-scale, bipartisan parliamentary investigation of COVID-19 spending; protest the administration of Akufo-Addo and Bawumia's officials' appropriation of public lands, notably their declassification of substantial areas of the Achimota Forest reserve.
“
"Protest against the rising culture of human rights violations under the watch of President Akufo-Addo and Alhaji Bawumia, as well as the increased rate of police brutalities and state-sponsored murders of innocent Ghanaians."
