Previous Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech to leave job as Chelsea's technical advisor
Previous Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech will step down from his job as technical and execution advisor toward the finish of June, the Premier League club said on Monday, the latest staff part to leave Stamford Bridge following the takeover drove by Todd Boehly.
Cech, who was named to the job in 2019 following his retirement, spent 11 years at Chelsea between 2004-15 and won 13 significant trophies, including four Premier League titles and the Champions League.
Cech's takeoff follows that of manager Marina Granovskaia, who will leave toward the finish of the transfer window. Executive Bruce Buck is moving into a senior advisor job after June 30. Peruse full story
"It has been an immense honor to play out this job at Chelsea for the past three years. With the club under new ownership, I feel this moment is the perfect time for me to step aside," Cech said in a statement.
A group drove by Boehly and Clearlake Capital obtained Chelsea in May after previous proprietor Roman Abramovich put the club available to be purchased following Russia's invasion of Ukraine, which Russia calls a 'special activity'.
"Petr is a significant individual from the Chelsea family," Boehly said. "We understand his decision to step away and say thanks to him for his contributions as an advisor and his obligation to the club and to our local area. We wish him the best."
