Fabrizio Romano Reveals When Star Liverpool Forward Will Leave The Club

Divock Origi will fly out to Milan next week to ‘undergo medical tests’ and sign his AC Milan contract, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano. Since joining Liverpool in 2014, Origi has left Merseyside on two occasions. He was immediately loaned back to Lille upon joining the club and spent the 17/18 campaign at Wolfsburg. His move to Milan shall be the first time he has left the club on a permanent deal since his arrival. At 27-years-old, Divock Origi still has a lot of football left ahead of him. He’ll hope to follow in the footsteps of the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Edin Dzeko, and Tammy Abraham, who have gone onto score bags of goals in Italy after moving from the Premier League. Origi has never been a consistent starter for Liverpool. He has always assumed something of a bit-part role. Typically, he’d be introduced by Jürgen Klopp towards the end of a game in a desperate move to grab a goal. Origi moves to Milan hoping for a more important squad role. And there is an opportunity to grab that first-choice striker role in Milan. The Italian club’s current main men up top are Olivier Giroud and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Giroud’s best years are behind him while the 40-year-old Ibrahimovic is undergoing cruciate ligament surgery. A pathway towards regular football has presented itself to Origi. It’s unclear whether Liverpool will actively look to replace their departing Belgian. He has established himself as a true cult hero at Liverpool over the years, but his squad role was always quite undefined. Jürgen Klopp may feel he can go without such a player profile next season. That said, the German tactician has already acted to ensure his side won’t be short of goals next season. Darwin Nuñez has joined Liverpool for £85 million. However, he will be more of a replacement for the likely departing Sadio Mané than Origi. Origi’s late winners and equalisers will live long in the memory of Liverpool fans. When his departure was confirmed on Twitter, the club described him as a ‘legend’ on their social media. Fans will be wishing him all the best ahead of his new adventure in Milan.
