Monaco ‘confirm £15m transfer for Liverpool outcast Takumi Minamino’ as Reds get DOUBLE what they paid for Japan star

MONACO have reportedly completed the signing of Liverpool star Takumi Minamino in a deal worth £15million. The 27-year-old attacking midfielder has been restricted to a bit-part role for Jurgen Klopp's side since arriving at Anfield in 2020. 1 Minamino has left Liverpool after an up and down spell at AnfieldCredit: AFP In two and a half seasons with Liverpool he made 53 appearances, scoring 14 goals and providing three assists. Last season he played just 11 Premier League matches with only one of those coming from the start. But now he is on his way out of Merseyside as he seeks more game time in Ligue 1. Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano confirmed the news on social media. The report states that Liverpool will receive just shy of £13m with a further £2.5m in add-ons. That's DOUBLE the amount they paid for him when he was bought for around £7.25m from Red Bull Salzburg in January 2020. Speaking about the signing, Monaco boss Philippe Clement simply said: "We’re really happy, he was our priority." Monaco finished last season in third place, just two points behind Marseille but 17 adrift of runaway French champions PSG. Benfica striker Darwin Nunez has arrived as Liverpool's record signing, linking up with Diogo Jota, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino. But Salah's contract remains a sticking point for the club. The Egyptian is yet to sign a new deal and could leave on a free transfer next summer.

Liverpool agree to sell Takumi Minamino to Monaco for €18 million

Monaco have agreed a €18 million deal to sign Takumi Minamino from Liverpool. Minamino has agreed personal terms with the Ligue 1 side but the deal is subject to a medical as the 27-year-old is still in his native Japan. Liverpool will receive a fixed fee of €15 million with another €3 million inserted into the deal as a potential add-on. The former Red Bull Salzburg forward has failed to hold down a first-team spot since moving to Anfield for £7.25 million in January 2020. Minamino, who spent the second half of the 2020-21 season on loan at Southampton, has scored 14 goals in 55 games for Liverpool.
