A falling tank burst and overwhelmed the Jordanian port of Aqaba with a thick yellow gas cloud

 

A chlorine gas blast killed something like ten individuals and harmed 250 at the port of Aqaba, Jordan, on Monday. Video film caught the second a fuel tank tumbled from a crane and detonated, delivering a thick haze of harmful vapor.

 

The head of the city's wellbeing division, Jamal Obediat, reported the loss figures on state TV, forewarning that these numbers could rise. Depicting what is happening as "basic," Obediat advised occupants of the port city to remain inside and close their windows, The National announced.

Authorities said that the big hauler contained 25 tons of chlorine bound for send out. Aqaba sits along Jordan's line with Israel, with the outskirts isolating it from the Israeli city of Eilat. The port where the blast occurred is situated around 10km south of the twin urban communities, on the east bank of the Bay of Aqaba.
