Ben Stokes 'pushing the envelope' as England sweep New Zealand

Britain's new red-ball lead trainer Brendon McCullum insisted he didn't have anything on the aggression of captain Ben Stokes subsequent to overseeing a 3-0 whitewash of his local New Zealand during his first series in control.

McCullum was known for a powerful methodology when captain of New Zealand and the going after mindset currently named 'Baz ball', in reverence to his moniker, was in proof again during the third test at Headingley on Monday.

Britain, after downpour washed out the last morning's session, took just 15.2 overs to score the leftover 113 runs they expected to arrive at an objective of 296 for a seven-wicket triumph that followed a couple of five-wicket triumphs over the test title holders at Lord's and Trent Bridge.

Jonny Bairstow made a blistering 71 not out on Monday - - England's second-quickest tests fifty ever - - and shared a solid stand of 111 with previous England captain Joe Root (86 not out).

Bairstow's innings followed a majestic 162 that resuscitated England from the depths of 55-6 in their first innings.

It was every one of the a long ways from the shy play that had so frequently described England's performances during a run of one win in 17 tests preceding this series.

That spoiled return prompted Root's resignation as captain after group chief Ashley Giles and mentor Chris Silverwood were sacked following a sad Ashes series loss in Australia.

McCullum, be that as it may, insisted he had not "done an extraordinary part" while England were whitewashing New Zealand.

'SPECIAL START'

"I'm aggressive yet I think Ben has got me covered," McCullum told the BBC.

"He is really pushing the envelope and sending a strong message that this is the way the group will play."

"To leave with a 3-0 series win against the best group on the planet is a special start," said Stokes.

"At the point when I assumed control over this occupation it was about more than results - - it was tied in with adjusting the mindset of the lads towards test cricket, having some good times, getting a charge out of representing your country. Then, at that point, the results will care for themselves.

"To say we've gotten it done so rapidly is fantastic."

New Zealand captain Kane Williamson, who missed the second test with an episode of Covid-19, was passed on to mourn an absence of top-request runs, including from his own bat.

Be that as it may, despite having missed several New Zealand matches in the 12 months since driving the Black Caps to triumph over India in the debut World Test Championship last because of a longstanding elbow injury, the 31-year-old star batsman had no considered standing down skipper.

"I absolutely love playing for this gathering and being their chief," he said. "It has been an interesting time and testing, however the hunger is still there from me."
