Former Borussia Dortmund coach Lucien Favre was appointed manager of Ligue 1 club Nice on Monday
Previous Borussia Dortmund manager Lucien Favre was named supervisor of Ligue 1 club Nice on Monday, supplanting Christophe Galtier who is in talks with Paris Saint-Germain.
"Christophe Galtier is at this point not responsible for Nice's first group," Nice said in a statement.
Favre, the 64-year-old Swiss who has been without a club since he was released by Dortmund in December 2020, supervised preparing as the Nice squad got back from a summer break.
"It is special to "Return. I stayed in touch with a many individuals. I was reached by a club however as soon as there was Nice, I said 'I'm going there,'" Favre told a news gathering.
"What (club owners) Ineos are doing is extremely interesting. What they need to keep building is immense."

"You need to come clean, that is the goal. In different sports, Ineos is number one."
Favre spent two years as coach of Nice somewhere in the range of 2016 and 2018, directing the club to a third-place finish in his first season and the passing rounds of the Champions League.
"I'm absolutely glad that Lucien Favre is going along with us," said Jim Ratcliffe, the British extremely rich person administrator of Ineos.
"He is an accomplished coach who has been successful in the Bundesliga and furthermore here at Nice. He has gained appreciation and deference all over."
PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi affirmed last week the Qatari-claimed club were in discussions with Galtier about taking over from Mauricio Pochettino.
Al-Khelaifi denied the club had been in contact with Zinedine Zidane.
"I would rather not dive into details however we pretty much know where Christophe is going. They still have some small things to sort out," said Nice president Jean-Pierre Rivere.
"I wish him the best season possible. It's of course a superb chance for him."
Galtier came out on top for the French association championship with Lille in 2021 preceding leaving for Nice, driving the south coast club to fifth spot last season.
Rivere also affirmed that football chief Julien Fournier would leave Nice.
