NEW Up to four applicants have apparently been narrowed down by Chelsea owner Todd Boehly for the position of transfer expert Marina Granovskaia.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Boehly's list includes Maxwell, the assistant sporting director at Paris Saint-Germain.
Since 2017, Maxwell (on the left) has served as PSG's associate sports director.
Maxwell, an ex-Barcelona player, has apparently been added by Chelsea to a list of up to four prospective candidates for Marina Granovskaia.
Following the announcement of Granovskaia's resignation, the Blues are looking for a new transfer expert.
The 47-year-old Russian held a prominent position in Roman Abramovich's hierarchy before he was compelled to sell the Blues in May. Last week, she followed him out the door, but Boehly is moving quickly to locate a replacement.
According to Romano, the American millionaire has already set his sights on Maxwell, a former star for Barcelona, as well as three other individuals.
Since 2017, Maxwell, 40, has served as PSG's associate sporting director, and he has been instrumental in signing players like Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi, and Achraf Hakimi.
Additionally, Boehly is hoping that the former most decorated footballer in history can bring his financial acumen to Stamford Bridge as they work to recover from the loss of Abramovich.
The owner of the LA Dodgers is rumored to be considering Michael Edwards, a former Liverpool transfer expert, for the position.
He was the driving force behind the acquisitions of players like Andy Robertson, Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, and Alisson.
However, PSG, Real Madrid, Manchester United, and Newcastle are all interested in Edwards.
But Boehly needs to be replaced in more ways than only with Granovskaia.
On Monday, blues veteran Petr Cech resigned from his position as technical director.
Bruce Buck, the club's chairman, will also be leaving after 19 years of service.
