Manchester United may have a chance to sign another player due to CHELSEA'S transfer priorities.
Because Chelsea is concentrating on other transfer targets, Manchester United may overtake them in the race to get Real Madrid star Marco Asensio. After the Spanish club reportedly made it plain they would not approve a new deal for the midfielder, Asensio is set to leave Real this summer.
Asensio joined Real in 2014 after moving from Mallorca. He has won three La Liga championships and three Champions League medals during that period, but he has frequently had trouble maintaining a regular starting spot with the team. It appears like the 26-year-old should make a change at this point.
Spanish radio station Deportes COPE reports that Real have "no intention" of extending Asensio's contract. Even if his current deal runs through June 2023, Los Blancos do not want to lose him to a free transfer the following summer. As opposed to that, they will try to sell him now, while his worth is still quite high.
According to a recent Sport story, Real will put Asensio "up for auction" despite interest from United, AC Milan, and Chelsea because they value him at about £34.5 million (€40 million). The midfielder, who has played in 235 games for Real and has contributed 24 goals and 49 assists, is said to desire guarantees on his playing time and a salary of between £6 million and £7 million per season.

Following the departures of Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Nemanja Matic, and Juan Mata, United have yet to make a single addition this summer, causing Erik ten Hag to start his preseason training on Monday with a skeletal team. However, they might have a competitive advantage over them.
While the Blues themselves are apparently concentrating on other players, Milan are reportedly evaluating both Asensio and Chelsea forward Hakim Ziyech. On Monday night, there were numerous stories claiming that Todd Boehly had contacted Manchester City regarding Raheem Sterling, who was the club's top target at the time because Romelu Lukaku was expected to join Inter Milan on loan.

Sterling, who also has one year left on his contract worth £300,000 per week, is reportedly wanted by City for £55 million. The agreement may be finished this week because Boehly is committed to seeing it through. Matthijs de Ligt, a defender thought to be available for £70 million,In addition, the club has shortlisted Ousmane Dembele of Barcelona and Nathan Ake of City.
It appears doubtful that Chelsea will seek Asensio given the potential of deals for Sterling and De Ligt and the fact that Thomas Tuchel's team prioritizes another center-back. Frenkie de Jong, a midfielder for Barcelona, is the player United is after, but Asensio might just be a better option.
