Raheem Sterling Chelsea agreement has prompted Thomas Tuchel to consider a £58 million transfer

The speculation surrounding Raheem Sterling appears to be pointing toward him joining Chelsea this summer.

According to The Telegraph, Thomas Tuchel has made contact with the England international in order to persuade him to join Chelsea, and it is expected that a new offer for the 27-year-old will be submitted to Manchester City in the coming days.

Whatever you think of Sterling, his addition would have an impact on the current squad. We discussed Hakim Ziyech last week, who is in talks with AC Milan, and Timo Werner could be used as a makeweight in a deal to sign Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt.

Christian Pulisic, bought for £58 million in 2019, would arguably be the most affected by Sterling's signing due to his prominence on Chelsea's left flank, an area Sterling has mostly played from for his club and country.

The takeover of an American consortium and the belief that selling the USA's star player would be seen as far-fetched in a pre-season when the Blues will embark on their first tour stateside since 2016 has put an end to rumours of Pulisic leaving Chelsea.

However, all reports indicate that Tuchel will have room to shape this squad, and Todd Boehly is looking for creative ways to offload unwanted talent, as seen by the potential swap for Werner to Turin.

The forward is on the manager's shortlist of attacking targets as he enters the final year of his contract with the Premier League champions, who are grateful for his service but will not stand in the way of his desire for more minutes and status elsewhere.

Pep Guardiola has stated repeatedly that "I don't like to keep unhappy players" and is willing to let Sterling leave this summer, even to a Premier League rival, if an acceptable bid in the region of £50 million is tabled.

Tuchel is desperate to add a decisive edge in the final third in order to solve Chelsea's goal-scoring problems.
