Man City's post dumbfounding Gabriel Jesus tweet just hours after agreement with Arsenal was reached
Gabriel Jesus, Man City's Brazilian superstar, will join Arsenal this week after the clubs agreed on a £45 million fee and the player agreed on personal terms, leaving fans perplexed by a City tweet.
In April, Guardiola commented on Jesus' future at Manchester City.
Manchester City sent out a perplexing Gabriel Jesus tweet just hours after reaching an agreement with Arsenal.
On Friday, it was reported that City and the north Londoners had agreed to a £45 million deal for the Brazilian forward (June 24). On Sunday, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano announced that the 25-year-old had agreed personal terms with the Gunners, implying that Jesus was almost certain to join the club.
However, City's social media team left fans of both clubs baffled by posting a tweet which showed a highlight reel of Jesus. The video featured "the best bits of @GabrielJesus9's 2021/22," but made no mention of his impending departure.
Several City and Arsenal fans questioned whether it was a cryptic confirmation of his departure. They wrote, "Goodbye message?" while City fans wished him luck at his new club.
After five years at Manchester City, Jesus reportedly agreed to a five-year contract with Arsenal. He arrived from Palmeiras in 2017 and has since scored 95 goals in 236 games across all competitions.
Arsenal and Manchester City have reached an agreement over Gabriel Jesus as they look to sign their first-choice striker this summer.
Mikel Arteta made signing a striker a priority during the transfer window, and the Brazilian is one of the top names on his wish list. The departures of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette have left the Gunners short on attacking options.
Several players, including Victor Osimhen, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, and Tammy Abraham, had been mentioned, but Jesus was always the top priority. Arteta is familiar with the player from his time as Pep Guardiola's assistant coach.
