A Father's Day celebration for fathers was conducted in Accra by the non-governmental organisation 60+ Foundation.

The celebration, which was organised in partnership with the Adentan Municipal Assembly's Department of Social Welfare and Community Development, aimed to honour and recognise fathers for their contribution to the family structure as well as provide fathers with special needs with a forum for increased networking and socialisation within the community.

Numerous services were provided to the dads, including general health examinations, eye exams, barbering and grooming, manicures, and pedicures for each parent in attendance.

dads' role

Felix Osom, the president of the charity, praised the dads for agreeing to take part in the event and urged them to use the opportunity to build networks while mingling with their peers.

"Fatherhood is a duty, fatherhood is bravery, and fatherhood is bearing all your dependents' needs and wishes on your shoulders and guiding the way," he said, highlighting the crucial role of the father in the family.

Despite being quite young, the foundation, according to Mr. Osom, has recognised the unique requirements of the increasing demographic group.

Therefore, he said, "We have developed aged care training and development measures, offered hospitality and social support services, and advocated for the health requirements of the elderly.

Daniel Alexander Nii-Noi Adumuah, the Chief Executive of the Adentan Municipal Assembly, greeted the dads and foundation members to the event and praised the foundation for its initiative to recognise the presence and significance of fathers in the family context, calling it "a nice gesture."

He asked the recipients to often stop in for a health check at any of the several health centres located within the town.

In order to prevent medical problems, Dr. Hope Deseue, Medical Director of the Greater Accra Regional Hospital (Ridge), guided beneficiaries through medical screening and counselling procedures.
