Romelu Lukaku of CHELSEA is scheduled to leave Stamford Bridge this summer.
According to former Chelsea winger Pat Nevin, Robert Lewandowski of Bayern Munich would be the "ideal" alternative for Romelu Lukaku, and Thomas Tuchel bringing in the Polish star would be the "dream situation." Nevin hopes that the Blues will sabotage Barcelona's attempt to sign Lewandowski, 33, and bring him to Stamford Bridge. Lewandowski has publicly expressed his desire to leave the German powerhouse, with the Catalan club being his ideal suitor.
According to Nevin, getting Lewandowski and losing Romelu would be Chelsea's ideal situation. "That is the ideal response. Romelu now has the power to make choices. I was taken aback by the move since I had no idea Lukaku was a Tuchel player.
He is unsuitable simply in terms of style. The issue is that Lukaku doesn't fit Chelsea's style either. It is very peculiar. Many people said "this is the final piece in the puzzle, they've added objectives" last year.
"I never noticed it; they already had ambitions. Romelu is not the type of player they needed—someone who would work hard and move players. Neither at Everton nor at United was he that way. Although he can score goals, Chelsea required a different kind of player. He must adjust if he remains; Chelsea won't adapt to him; he will adapt to Chelsea. For a player who isn't accustomed to playing that style, that's a big ask and a big call.

Lukaku is close to returning to Inter Milan, joining Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger in leaving the team this summer, and Nevin has identified the number of acquisitions Chelsea would need to make in order to be competitive with Manchester City and Liverpool.
He said, "Minimum of four." With Christensen and Rudiger gone, the kickoff will feature two center backs. [Thiago] Although Silva is one of the best players I've seen in the Premier League, he won't be around forever, he won't play in every game, and he could sustain an injury. A player his age cannot be relied upon entirely.

"I also believe they need a striker who operates in a Lewandowski-like manner, which would free up [Kai] Havertz to play the ten position, one of the two behind the striker, in which he excels. He might be among the best in that position. He is still very young and has already had the kind of career that a 38-year-old would hope for. He has also already scored the winning goal in two finals. He is constantly getting better.
"The other position, the [Hakim] Ziyech position, needs a little more imagination. To be fair, though, they also have [Mason] Mount and him. Chelsea ultimately needs [Reece] James and [Ben] Chilwell, two players who were absent from their roster last year and each missed a lot due to harm.
"Their success came when they were on the squad; they were on fire at the beginning of the season. It's like saying, "Look where [Andrew] Robertson and Trent [Alexander-Arnold] would be if you took them out of Liverpool." Chelsea and They Will Fall Far are nearly identical.
