Frenkie de Jong, a midfielder for Barcelona, is allegedly close to a trade to Manchester United.
According to the Daily Star, the Red Devils and the Catalan powerhouses have reportedly agreed on a fee of roughly £70 million, which would include an initial payment of £58 million for the Netherlands international and an additional £12 million in future add-ons.
De Jong would undoubtedly be a key acquisition for incoming Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag since the duo got along well while playing for Ajax, and because Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic's expiring contracts have left Old Trafford with a general lack of quality midfielders.
De Jong's arrival may also play a crucial role in United's efforts to sign Brentford playmaker Christian Eriksen, according to the Daily Star.

After the shock of his cardiac episode at Euro 2020 last summer, Eriksen has been back to his best in 2022, and it's obvious he could be a fantastic free agent addition for United.
Also De Jong and Eriksen seem like they'd bring a lot of skill and originality to this failing MUFC team, and they both seem like the perfect players to assist Ten Hag in putting his footballing philosophies into practice.
Although they haven't officially approved any summer acquisitions, the Red Devils are reportedly working hard behind the scenes to get things done in time for the upcoming Premier League season.
Although a transfer for De Jong has apparently been planned for some time, a deal now appears to be close to being reached as United and Barcelona continue their negotiations to come to a final agreement.
However, the 13-time Premier League champions have already begun to consider the future and have chosen to prioritize signing Antony as soon as De Jong enters the building.
