Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, the leader of the opposition National Democratic Congress, has said he opposes the actions of the LGBTQI+ community.

Mr. Ofosu Ampofo hinted that LGBTI+ activities are generally discouraged by all of the country's main religions in an interview with Accra-based Power FM.

As a result, he said that he will not support it, particularly in light of his Christian upbringing.

"Traditional leaders or religious followers exist in Ghana. When you approach them, no one will welcome LGBTQ people. I don't believe that our Muslim brothers accept LGBTQI since the Quran outright forbids a guy from marrying a man and a woman from marrying a woman.

It is a taboo that we Christians detest as well. Given who I am and my orientation, I detest LGBTQ people and will never support them, either personally or professionally. I will in no way support it. Mr. Ofosu Ampofo declared, "We won't support it now, and we won't support it tomorrow.

The NDC chairman's remarks follow Freddie Blay, the NPP chairman, who said that homosexuals' rights should be recognised.

"In this instance, I'm giving my own viewpoint on the subject. I'm not attracted to guys, thus I don't consider myself to be homosexual. But since I can't see what individuals are doing in their bedrooms, I don't want to enter there.

It should be your personal issue if you choose to be gay.

"I won't go ahead and prosecute those who wish to be in a man-and-man or woman-and-woman relationship. I believe it to be excessively hypocritical, and we have become so enthused about it that we have lost any sense of sobriety. In a recent interview, Mr. Blay stated, "I honestly don't understand the hullabaloo about it; we should accept them.

Sam Nartey George, Ningo Prampram, and a few other lawmakers are leading the charge for a private members bill that would outlaw activities linked to the LGBTI+ community.

When the law is passed, it will make LGBTI+ activities illegal and restrict the rights of those who engage in them.
