Man City transfer rumours: Joao Felix 'promised' as Rodri decides on a new contract
Manchester City finished one point ahead of Liverpool in the Premier League last season and will be active in the summer transfer window to maintain their lead.
Manchester City remains active, with several incomings and outgoings possible in the coming week.
Gabriel Jesus is expected to leave this summer following the arrival of Erling Haaland, and Arsenal are first in line to sign him. Chelsea want Raheem Sterling, while Barcelona want Bernardo Silva, though Pep Guardiola has said the Portuguese will not leave the Etihad Stadium.
City's priority is to sign England midfielder Kalvin Phillips, and they can do so if they meet Leeds' £60 million asking price. However, there are numerous other rumours and gossip about potential signings, and Mirror Sport has compiled the best of them.
City offered £114 million for Portugal star
According to Football365, City has been offered the chance to sign Joao Felix because Atletico Madrid has told him he can leave. Felix has failed to live up to his record £114m price tag since joining Atletico in 2019, and the club is open to offers for the forward.
Intermediaries are contacting Europe's wealthiest clubs, including Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain, to gauge their interest. Atletico hopes that if City offloads Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling, they will be interested in signing Felix.
Rodri is set to sign a new contract.
According to a report from AS Diario in Spain, Bayern Munich is interested in Spain midfielder Rodri. According to the report, Bayern had been tracking Rodri for a month and considered making a bid before learning that the holding midfielder is set to sign a new contract with City, committing his future to the club.
Rodri, who joined City in 2019, is expected to sign a new long-term contract in the coming weeks. Despite tying down Rodri to the Etihad, City still want Kalvin Phillips, and manager Pep Guardiola wants depth in that position.
Fernandinho has returned home.
According to a report from Globo Esporte in Brazil, Fernandinho has agreed to return to his first club, Athletico Paranaense, on a free transfer. Fernandinho, 37, left City at the end of the season after nine years at the club, and he has turned down bigger offers from Flamengo, Corinthians, and Palmeiras in Brazil to return to Paranaense.
The midfielder began his career with them before moving on to Shakhtar Donetsk, and he is keeping a promise he made to return. His move to Bosman will be confirmed next month, and his contract with City will expire on June 30.
