Colonel Isaac Amponsah, a senior military officer in the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), has earned a Master of Arts in Strategic Security Studies from the College of International Security Affairs (CISA) at the National Defence University in Washington, D.C., with distinction.
Colonel Amponsah earned nine "As" and three "A Minuses" out of the course's 12 graded assignments (A-).
Thus, on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, he was one of nine graduates to receive the College's "Distinguished Graduate" certificate.
Naval Captain Michael Addo Larbi, the director of public relations, stated in a statement that GAF is proud of Colonel Amponsah's accomplishment.
His accomplishment not only brings honour to Ghana and the Ghana Armed Forces, but also to all of Africa. Part of the announcement said, "Colonel Amponsah was the only African on the list of prize recipients from all the four schools of the University.
Algeria, Botswana, Cameroon, Egypt, Kenya, Malawi, Mauritania, Morocco, Niger, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Senegal, Somalia, Tanzania, and Tunisia were among the other African nations represented among the graduates of the university.
One of the four colleges within the National Defense University is the College of International Security Affairs (CISA).
At the College of International Security Affairs in Washington, DC, a soldier from Ghana was recognised as a "Distinguished Graduate."
In order to educate and equip future leaders from the United States and its partner countries for the strategic challenges of the modern security environment, CISA was founded in 2002 as the School for National Security Executive Education.
The College serves as a Department of Defense flagship for education and the development of US partner country capabilities in the strategic fight against terrorism and irregular warfare (IW).
The Dwight Eisenhower School for National Security and Resource Strategy, the National War College, the Joint Forces Staff College, and the College of Information and Cyberspace are the additional colleges within the National Defense University.
