Timo Werner of Chelsea has been linked to a startling transfer to Liverpool. The 26-year-style old's of play would fit better with the Reds' team's style of play, according to manager Jurgen Klopp, who feels he can bring out the best in his compatriot.

Football Insider claims that Liverpool are interested in Werner but have not yet started negotiations with the Blues about bringing in the former RB Leipzig striker.

This summer, the Reds cut ties with Takumi Minamino, Divock Origi, and Sadio Mane. With only one year remaining on his contract, Mohamed Salah's future at Anfield has come into question.

In addition to signing Darwin Nunez and Fabio Carvalho this summer, Klopp also added Luis Diaz in January. To be ready for Salah's likely exit, the Reds might recruit another top-tier forward.

Werner was frequently linked to the Premier League's top teams before he joined Chelsea. During his tenure with Leipzig, the German developed into one of the finest attackers in the Bundesliga, scoring 78 goals in 127 appearances across all competitions.

He signed a £47.5 million contract to join Chelsea in 2020. Werner, though, has failed to live up to his Stamford Bridge price tag, scoring 23 goals and dishing out 21 assists in 89 games in all competitions. The Premier League's pace and ferocity, as well as Tuchel's style, haven't allowed the striker to adjust. The Reds have since emerged as a potential destination for Werner, who has been linked with a return to the Bundesliga (per SI). The 26-year-old is known for his speed and directness, and Klopp thinks his team's fast-paced, attacking style of play could suit him.

Timo Werner is unlikely to be sold by Chelsea to Liverpool.

Romelu Lukaku will go from the Blues. According to Sky Sports, the Belgian will re-join Inter Milan on a season-long loan agreement and will have a physical with the Nerazzurri next week.

The loss of Lukaku will leave the Blues lacking in attacking alternatives. Therefore, they are not inclined to consider Werner bids, especially from a direct Premier League foe.

Towards the end of the last campaign, the former Leipzig star displayed signs of development. Next season, Tuchel might try to maximise his compatriot's potential.
