Mr. Bernard Martei Korley, a prominent member of the National Democratic Congress and a private businessman, has assisted in bringing together party officials to create a policy paper targeted at promoting positive ties among party members at the branch, ward, and district levels.

To improve the party's reputation on the social and political fronts, he contends that a structured welfare system paper is necessary to address the members' social and economic requirements.

During the first policy launch by the Estate North Ward of the Ledzokuku Constituency over the weekend at the GNAT hall in Teshie-Nungua, Accra, Mr. Martei Korley made the contribution.

Mr. Martei Korley, who contributed GHC 5,000 to the project, stated that the proposed policy should be viewed as  a significant accomplishment and salutes all executives engaged in pulling off such a significant endeavour.

In addition to the initial funding, he said he would make sure a monthly deposit is made to support the initiative. He urged other constituencies to follow Estate North Ward's lead and make proactive efforts to meet the needs of their constituents and restore their strength and confidence in the party.

Mr. Nii Laryea Afotey-Agbo, a former member of the House of Representatives, a stalwart supporter of the National Democratic Congress, and Regent of the Kpone-Katamsndo traditional area, launched the document and urged the party leadership to ensure that all NDC members, particularly those at the grassroots, are united at all levels.

He claims that the reason for his lengthy tenure as an MP is his dedication to the welfare of young people, his commitment to safeguarding their livelihoods, and his desire to see that they were able to support themselves via the development of employment and skills.

Mr. Afotey-Agbo, who also served as the event's chair, believed that in order to adequately serve the needs of party members, proper and structured measures must be taken. He saw the policy document as a proactive step that will help streamline membership issues and ensure equity and justice with regard to the welfare of the party's members.

The NDC National Organiser, Mr. Joshua Akamba, Mr. Benjamin Ayiku-Narteh, the Member of Parliament for Ledzokuku, Hon. Joseph Adjei Mensah, the Constituency Chairman, as well as a broad variety of party supporters from the constituency and beyond attended the policy launch.
