Given the impending arrival of Frenkie de Jong, MANCHESTER UNITED is aiming to convince Christian Eriksen to sign with the team.
After a £74 million deal was reached with Barcelona to bring the Dutch midfielder to Old Trafford, Erik ten Hag is getting closer to joining the Red Devils for the first time.
Both the Red Devils and Brentford are interested in signing Christian Eriksen as a free agent.
United will pay an initial £56 million for the deal, plus a further £18 million in performance-based add-ons.
After the club dismissed players like Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic, and Juan Mata, Ten Hag made it a priority to bolster his midfield.
They are rumored to be eager to sign free agent Danish international Eriksen.
However, the 30-year-old is considering his options as he considers staying at Brentford after his successful stint with the Bees in the second part of the 2021–22 season.
The Daily Star claims that United will soon complete the acquisition of De Jong.
And they are expecting that Eriksen would agree to take on Ten Hag's project once he shows up at the Theatre of Dreams.
The former Ajax manager is eager to secure his targets early in the hopes that they can travel with United to Thailand and Australia for their preseason tour the following month.
On July 8, the Red Devils will fly east.
If United is successful in signing both De Jong and Eriksen, it has been reported that Ten Hag will then try to recruit winger Antony from Ten Hag's previous employers Ajax.
The 22-year-old will not come cheap, they have stressed, as the Eredivisie winners are holding out for a sum of somewhere over £69 million.
However, United is hesitant to pay that much and will haggle with Ajax for a cheaper price.
Tyrell Malacia of Feyernood is also being pursued by United after Lyon's pursuit of the defender was sabotaged.
The Eredivisie team is thought to have agreed to a £13 million price, with a potential increase to £14.6 million.
