The Ghana Journalists Association's (GJA) freshly elected national executives have been sworn into office.

The Accra International Conference Center hosted their swearing-in event on June 30. (AICC).

All of the executives received their oaths of office from Justice George Kingsley Koomson, Justice of the Court of Appeal.

Albert Kwabena Dwumfour is the new president, Linda Asante-Agyei is the new vice president, Kofi Yeboah is the new general secretary, Dominic Hlordzi is the new national organising secretary, Audrey Dekalu is the new treasurer, and Rebecca Ekpe is the new public relations officer.

They are anticipated to serve a three-year term after their successful swearing-in ceremony.

This has happened as a result of a request made by a member of the Association to stop Albert Dwumfuor, the president-elect, from taking the oath of office.

Justice Lee Adoboe said in the lawsuit that the bribery claim made against Mr. Dwumfour should have been looked into prior to the elections.

On Wednesday, June 29, the day before the induction of the newly elected leadership, the injunction was delivered to GJA representatives.

Albert Dwumfour's election as president of the GJA is being referred to as "null and invalid" by Justice Lee Adoboe in his petition to the court.

Additionally, he requests that the court issue an order mandating the holding of new elections.

In his lawsuit, Justice Lee Adoboe said that Albert Dwumfuor and Samuel Amoh Tobin, CEO of Tobinco Pharmaceuticals, prepared a banquet at the Atlantic Hotel in Takoradi for GJA members in the Western Region before the elections were held.

He continued, saying that Albert Dwumfuor also distributed $500 to each member in attendance as a "incentive for the members to vote for Albert Dwumfuor."

Additionally, according to the complaint, the CEO of Tobinco Pharmaceuticals offered the members additional benefits and rewards if they supported Albert Dwumfuor.

Justice Lee Adoboe claims that Albert Dwumfour's alleged actions are in violation of Article 52(b) of the GJA constitution.

He pointed out that the Election Committee held elections and declared Albert Dwumfuor the victor despite a plea from the GJA Western Regional Chairman, Dotsey Koblah Aklorbortu, requesting that the alleged behaviour be looked into.

The lawsuit, which was seen by Myjoyonline.com, also said that the plaintiff had gone so far as to file a petition with the Election Dispute Adjudication Committee in opposition to the allegation about the newly elected GJA President's behaviour.

The lawsuit asked that the swearing-in be postponed while inquiries into the alleged violation of the GJA constitution be conducted.

But despite the plaintiff's pleas, the Election Dispute Adjudication Committee went on and conducted the swearing-in ceremony.
