Report: Chelsea to advance move to sign 'unbelievable' player today, his agent used to play for the Blues
Chelsea are reportedly set for more talks with Raphinha’s agent today in an attempt to secure a move for the Leeds United man.
According to the Daily Mail, the club are rushing to get the deal done after his agent, Deco, was spotted with Barcelona chiefs yesterday.
They now want to advance the deal to ensure that there are no last minute obstacles to overcome to get the Brazilian to Stamford Bridge.
Raphinha’s agent, Deco, spent two seasons with the Blues after leaving the Catalan side, winning two FA cups and a Premier League crown.
Thomas Tuchel’s side reached an agreement with Leeds for the 25-year-old a couple of days ago, with it seeming like they were set to beat Arsenal to the deal.
However, Deco’s presence in Barcelona yesterday threw the deal into disarray, with the Spanish side being well-known as Raphinha’s desired destination.
According to the Daily Mail, the club have offered a deal worth around £118,000 a week to Raphinha, as Todd Boehly looks to secure his first signing at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea to advance Raphinha talks
The winger starred for both Marcelo Bielsa and Jesse March last season, scoring in the dramatic final day victory over Brentford which secured their status in the top flight.
The Brazil international was extremely popular amongst his teammates while at Elland Road, with fellow wantaway star Kalvin Phillips describing him as ‘unbelievable’.
His one on one dribbling is an asset missing among most of Chelsea’s current crop of attackers, with his goal threat over the past couple of seasons another skill which makes him the perfect signing for the club.
With rumours that Raheem Sterling is also firmly on the club’s radar as well, the pair could be set to make up a much more balanced attack, with the Englishman’s ability to frequently contribute with goals and assists something Tuchel has not had available as of yet.
Rumours of Barcelona’s interest in hijacking the deal will remind Chelsea fans of the current Jules Kounde situation, with reports speculating Xavi’s side are plotting to steal the Frenchman from under the Blues’ noses, despite nearly a year of interest at Stamford Bridge.
