The 4th Africa Procurement and Supply Chain Awards, which were held last Friday, June 24, at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra, recognised and celebrated the excellent work of procurement and supply chain units and experts who continuously reduce costs and boost profits in their various organisations.

Head of the Local Government Service Ign. Dr. Nana Ato Arthur served as the event's keynote speaker and espoused the importance of good procurement practises in the delivery of goods and services to the populace across the 16 Regional Coordinating Councils and the 261 Municipal, Metropolitan and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in Ghana. The event's theme was "Driving Excellence in Procurement and Supply Chain Management."

The Public Procurement Act, 2003 (Act 656), he continued, ensures public procurement, efficient tendering and contract procedures, and quality.

According to the Head of the Local Administration Service, the government is working nonstop to reduce procurement violations in both service delivery and the use of electronic procurement.

Ign. Dr. Ato Arthur addressed the audience and urged supply chain and procurement professionals to be guided by moral values and effective public procurement management.

Commending the CEO of Instinctwave, Ign. Dr Ato Arthur noted that the event management organisation is progressively becoming highly important and wealthy partner to the public sector in Africa.

In order to recognise and celebrate achievement, the prestigious Awards gathered together the most creative and revolutionary actors as well as practitioners who best demonstrate how to uphold integrity in procurement and supply chain operations from throughout the profession.

Akin Naphtal, the chief executive officer of Instinctwave, expressed his enthusiasm for the fourth edition of the awards programme, calling it a special programme that will inspire professionals and industry players to raise their standards in terms of their contributions to the success and expansion of African businesses.

He asserts that all procurement and supply chain departments, whether in the public and commercial sectors, play important responsibilities in assuring the growth of organisations.

According to the CEO of Instinctwave, the worldwide supply chain management market had a value of $15.85 billion in 2020 and was projected to grow to over US$ 31 billion by 2026.

Given the unstable and disruptive world of today, supply chain businesses need to be more adaptable, and digitalization is the answer. The use of digital supply chain technology and tools that enhance human decision-making would grow over the next three to five years, he said.

Mr. Naphtal continued by saying that the Africa Procurement and Supply Chain Awards were created since the procurement and supply chain sector typically receives little attention and recognition.

In order to further our relationship, we also introduced Supply Chain Africa Magazine, a biweekly magazine that highlights the development, difficulties, and possibilities in the sector.

Leading procurement experts, teams, and top supply chain organisations were recognised at the Awards Night for their outstanding leadership and practises that have raised the standards of procurement within the profession, showcasing the highest ethics, best practises, tact, and brilliance in managing organisations' supplies while also fostering business growth and sustainability.

The 4th Africa Procurement and Supply Chain Awards Night offered unique chances for participants in the financial sector to network, entertain guests, strengthen ties with other industry participants, and recognise outstanding work from personnel.
