The Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has given the go-ahead for the utilization of Ghana Cards for of movement for residents entering the country.
This was contained in a letter dated June 27, 2022, and endorsed by its Director-General, Charles Kraikue.
"We wish to bring to your thoughtful consideration a correspondence from the Ghana Immigration Service in regards to the authority notice of the acknowledgment of the Ghana Card as a movement record for passage into Ghana by residents," the letter read to some extent.
It further expressed that this choice has come about in light of the fact that the Ghana Card has been perceived as an ICAO-consistent travel report.
"Following the acknowledgment of the Ghana Card as an ICAO-consistent travel record, the Government of Ghana's strategy to permit Ghanaian travelers and Ghanaians with double citizenship getting back to Ghana use a legitimate Ghana Card as a choice produced results from first March 2022.

On June 20, 2022, the Ghana Immigration Service's Deputy Comptroller-General, Laud Affrifah, kept in touch with the GCAA to make sense of this new arrangement, expressing that until there are respective concurrences with different nations, Ghana can acknowledge the Ghana Card for bringing citizens back.
