Alexandre Lacazette wants Corentin Tolisso to join him at Lyon after Arsenal exit
A lexandre Lacazette has revealed Lyon star Anthony Lopes was contacting him “every week for six months” before his return to the club. The 31-year-old sealed a move back to the Ligue 1 giants on Thursday, signing a three-year contract at the club for which he made his breakthrough. Lacazette joined Arsenal in 2017 in a deal worth up to £52m and won the FA Cup in 2020, with manager Mikel Arteta paying tribute to a “fantastic leader” upon his departure. The forward cited a desire to help Lyon return to European competition after a disappointing season saw them finish 8th in Ligue 1 and fall to West Ham in the Europa League quarter-finals. Speaking at his official unveiling, Lacazette said: “There have been a lot of changes since I left. The club is progressing well. Antho (Lopes), he has been writing to me every week for six months to find out if I have made my decision.” READ MORE Lopes joined Lyon in the summer of 2012 and the pair made 173 appearances together before Lacazette’s move to England half a decade later. Lacazette also claimed he was trying to convince 2018 World Cup winner Corentin Tolisso to move back to the Groupama Stadium. “I’m also pushing for Corentin Tolisso to join,” he said at his press conference. The French international joined Bayern Munich in 2017 and will leave the German giants later this month after failing to agree a new deal.
Ryad Talbi to leave Lyon academy for Nice
According to L’Équipe, Ryad Talbi (18) is set to join Lucien Favre’s OGC Nice from Lyon’s academy following the end of his youth contract with the club. The teenager, born in January 2004, plays as an attacking midfielder and has represented the Morocco U20 side just once, making his debut in April of this year. Born in Grenoble, the 18-year-old has chosen to move further afield, signing a contract with Les Aiglons on the Mediterranean, who reportedly offered the same conditions as his parent club Lyon, who will lament the loss of a potential future star. Having scored in the penalty shootout, after a last-minute substitution, to win this season’s Coupe Gambardella (the French Youth Cup), Talbi could join a long list of successful Lyon academy graduates, which include Karim Benzema, Hatem Ben Arfa, Nabil Fekir, Alexandre Lacazette, Samuel Umtiti and Corentin Tolisso, who is coincidentally set to complete a move back to the club this summer.
Nantes-bound Moussa Sissoko was targetted by Monaco and Lyon
According to Dahbia Hattabi, Moussa Sissoko (32), who is reportedly set to join Coupe de France winners Nantes for €2m in a two-year deal, was also targetted by Monaco and Lyon. Hattabi is reporting that Sissoko has already passed his medical and is set to sign his contract with Les Canaris. However, to get their man, they reportedly had to fend off interest from AS Monaco and Lyon. The former are looking for midfield reinforcements following the departure of Aurélien Tchouaméni to Real Madrid for a reported €100m. Meanwhile, Lyon are also targeting midfielders. Following the arrival of Alexandre Lacazette, another former player in Corentin Tolisso (27) is also set to rejoin the club. The French international midfielder is a free agent having left Bayern Munich and his medical is reportedly set to take place on Thursday.
