Real Madrid and Leicester City transfers close as forgotten man set to seal move

The midfielder looks set to join the Italian club despite interest from Torino, with whom he spent last season as a loanee, making 24 appearances despite missing the best part of three months with a serious foot injury. Fiorentina are said to want to sign Praet either on a permanent basis or on loan with an obligation to buy the 28-year-old next summer. According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, negotiations between Leicester and Fiorentina will reach "key stages soon" after reports that talks between Torino broke down over differences in how the clubs wanted the deal to proceed. It was said in Italy that Torino's offer did not match the valuation Leicester set for the Belgian central midfielder. Romano tweeted: "Dennis Praet will leave Leicester soon. Fiorentina want to sign him on permanent deal or loan with obligation to buy clause, negotiations will enter into key stages soon. Fiorentina are also on the verge of signing Luka Jovi? on loan from Real Madrid." Praet's exit could be the first activity of the summer for Leicester in either direction after what many supporters have found to be a frustrating transfer window. If no surprise incomings are confirmed today, it will be the first time since being promoted to the Premier League that City have failed to complete a signing by the end of June. An exit for Praet to Italy, where his family are understood to be settled after last year's spell in Torino, might free up funds to bring a player. Chelsea defender Levi Colwill and Club Brugge striker Charles De Ketelaere are among the latest names to be linked.
