"A DEPENDABLE GOAL SCORER, NOT SOMEONE THEY'LL TAKE A CHANCE ON"

Former Liverpool striker Dean Saunders thinks Chelsea should try to recruit Robert Lewandowski from Bayern Munich this summer rather than Everton forward Richarlison.

Richarlison has reportedly signed a £50 million agreement with Tottenham Hotspur, plus add-ons, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. Chelsea reportedly tried to sabotage Spurs' efforts to sign the Brazilian striker up until the player agreed to join Antonio Conte's team.

Romelu Lukaku left for Inter Milan on loan, therefore Blues manager Thomas Tuchel is looking to bolster his attacking options at Stamford Bridge. Since a prospective transfer to Barcelona remains questionable, Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski has been linked with a move to Chelsea.

Saunders thinks Richarlison would not be a better addition to Tuchel's squad than the dynamic Bayern center-forward.

"What are they going to do now that Lukaku is gone? You want Lewandowski, then. A goal scorer with a track record, not a gambler."

Last season, Lewandowski scored an incredible 50 goals in 46 games for Bayern.

Richarlison would have been more of a risk for the Blues than the productive 34-year-old, according to Saunders, who also says:

Richardson is a risk. You wouldn't be astonished if he scored 15 goals, nor would you be if he only scored five. Lewandowski is not, and I believe Chelsea needs a [striker] who is ready-made and will score goals.

Robert Lewandowski would be a stroke of genius for Chelsea.

With 509 goals scored in 676 career appearances, the former Borussia Dortmund striker solidified his reputation as one of Europe's greatest scorers ever. The Pole also has a ton of experience in Europe, having taken home the Champions League with Bayern in 2020.

With 15 goals, Lewandowski finished the 2019–20 Champions League season as the competition's leading scorer. He has made 106 appearances and scored 86 goals overall.

Thomas Tuchel's team would benefit greatly from his proven track record in Europe's top club tournament, and the younger Stamford Bridge attackers may pick up tips from him.

He has won the Bundesliga championship 10 times and finished first in scoring seven times in the German league in addition to his exceptional success in Europe.
