The Liverpool defender who was "treated as the dumbest of the dumb" refused to move for a transfer fee.
I had five fantastic years with Liverpool, followed by six disastrous months.
Stephane Henchoz was a mainstay in Liverpool's defense for five seasons. Signed in the summer of 1999 for £3.5 million from Blackburn Rovers, he quickly established himself as a key player for the Reds, forging a famous centre-back partnership with Sami Hyypia as they won the treble and qualified for the Champions League under Gerard Houllier.
It was no coincidence that Liverpool's form under the Frenchman began to deteriorate when the Switzerland international began to miss extended periods of time due to injury.
Jurgen Klopp has been given £47.5 million to replace Sadio Mane at Liverpool. According to a former Premier League defender, Liverpool should sign Chelsea forward Timo Werner as a surprise replacement for Sadio Mane.
Werner's game time at Stamford Bridge has been limited since his £47.5m move from RB Leipzig two years ago, and his future appears to be uncertain. Before joining Chelsea, the Germany international was heavily linked with a move to Liverpool.
Jurgen Klopp has already delved into the transfer market this summer to bolster his attacking options, securing the signing of Darwin Nunez from Benfica for a fee that could reach a club-record £85 million if add-ons are met. It appears extremely unlikely that he is considering a bid for Werner.

In the summer of 2003, an 18-year-old Ronaldo had just moved from Sporting Lisbon to Old Trafford for £12 million to replace David Beckham and wear the iconic number seven shirt. In training, the incredible skilled youngster saw an opportunity to simply do what he does best: show off his tricks. However, the then-youngster failed to do so during the process.
Rio Ferdinand, who played alongside Ronaldo for five years, recalled an altercation between the two on the training ground. "He used to get snapped in training, but I remember one time, I think it was a good moment for him, but he didn't take it well," Ferdinand said last year on BT Sport. "Ruud [Van Nistelrooy] was the man at United at the time. He was the man responsible for all of the goals.
