Support government's financial program - Akufo-Addo to IMF
President Akufo-Addo has asked the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to help financial projects set up by the public authority.
This was finished through a phone discussion between the President and the IMF Managing Director, Miss Kristalina Georgieva.
An assertion gave by the Information Ministry on Friday, July 1, added that administration has proactively chosen to connect with the IMF for help after a bureau meeting hung on June 30, 2022.
"The commitment with the IMF will try to give an equilibrium of installment support as a feature of a more extensive work to stimulate Ghana's work back notwithstanding difficulties initiated by the Covid-19 pandemic and, as of late, the Russia-Ukraine emergencies," the assertion added.
This improvement comes days after a main individual from the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Gabby Otchere-Darko, said he was not against the public authority looking for financial help from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
As indicated by him, any move or plan by the public authority to go to the IMF for a program would involve rule.
"Am I against an IMF program on a basic level? No. I'm not for an IMF program that tosses peanuts at us yet forces conditions that will wind up harming poor people, occupations and organizations more.

"Coronavirus and War in Ukraine are not of Africa's doing, but rather more to our destruction. A program that imagines it is all our doing is ill-fated to come up short," he tweeted on Monday, June 27.
Before Gabby Otchere-Darko's tweet, Deputy Finance John Kumah had indicated that administration might consider going to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for a program assuming the ongoing local program neglects to bring the required financial security and reestablish financial backer certainty.
He showed that an IMF program will be sought after if necessary.

However, protecting their position, Mr. Kumah said all choices are on the table.
"In the event that it [bringing the economy back to life] becomes unthinkable, rescuing our economy is the main other option. However, where we are presently, we assume we are in the situation to rescue the economy or to attempt the local approach we are taking on."

Mahama's call for IMF bailout
On his part, previous President John Mahama has approached government to look for help from the IMF critically.
Talking at the send off of the Think Progress Ghana think tank on Thursday, the previous President asked government to look for help from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to upgrade the country's financial fortunes.
"Because of the nature and profundity of our financial issues, this administration basically has no other economical choice.
"That is something this administration needs. They don't have monetary discipline and for that reason they are even hesitant to go into an IMF program," the previous President commented.
