Martin Kpebu, a private attorney, has requested that Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, the president's chief of staff, be fired.
He said that the CEO of the Northern Development Authority was involved in an alleged fraud case, but the Chief of Staff did nothing about it (NDA).
On Friday, July 1, Mr. Kpebu said during an appearance on the Super Morning Show that the Chief of Staff's inaction on the issue six months after it first came to her knowledge was a sign of her inefficiency.
Since this was written to the Chief of Staff roughly six months ago, he reasoned, "I think the Chief of Staff has to depart for the time being. This shows you that she's sleeping on the job."
Mr. Kpebu's request comes in response to a suit filed by the Authority's former CEO, Dr. Sulemana Anamzoya, in which he accused his replacement, Sumaila Abdul Rahman, of fabricating data and forging his signature for a GH10,400,000 contract. Additionally, Mr. Rahman was charged with inflating the contract's cost, according to Dr. Anamzoya.
Mr. Kpebu urged the President to act quickly against those implicated in the situation, particularly the Chief of Staff due to her silence on the subject.
It's now time, he continued, for the President to demonstrate his mettle by firing the persons involved since he has been a strong opponent of corruption before taking office and has committed to deal with anyone who engages in corrupt behaviour while in government.
There must be a sacrifice. The President needs to convince the people that he really does mean it when he claims he is combating corruption, therefore he must stop being so implacable, he added.
The Chief of Staff, who is the youngest of the three, "takes most of the guilt since she is the junior-most among these three, but the President and Vice President share some of the fault," he said.
