The best XI of the season: five Real Madrid players and three Liverpool players
With 71 members on the jury, the votes for MARCA's 100 best XI of the season are finally in.
The team, which uses a 4-3-3 formation because it is the most commonly used by teams in the five major European leagues, includes many Real Madrid and Liverpool players.
Given that the two teams met in the Champions League final, it's no surprise that seven of the 11 players are from the same club.
Courtois; Alexander-Arnold, Van Dijk, Alaba, Cancelo; Rodri, De Bruyne, Modric; Salah, Vinicius, and Benzema are the best XI.
Courtois is unsurprising in goal, given his runner-up finish in MARCA's #Los100.
In defense, Liverpool has two players (Alexander-Arnold and Van Dijk), Real Madrid has one (Alaba), and Manchester City has one (Cancelo).
After finishing ahead of Eder Militao in the #Los100 rankings, the Austrian made the team.

There is no doubt about the inclusion of Benzema and Vinicius up top, with Salah rounding out the trio.

According to MARCA's Mario Cortegana, Real Madrid Castilla center back Mario Gila is close to completing a move to Serie A giants Lazio. Los Blancos were reportedly considering loaning him to Lazio or nearby LaLiga side Getafe, but they have chosen the Biancocelesti as his next destination.
Instead of loaning the talented young center, Real will sell him for only five million euros. However, Los Blancos will retain 50% of his rights, which means they could buy him back for 10 million euros.
