The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has written to explain deluding provides details regarding online entertainment which guarantee that beginning July 1, dealer SIMs will be charged the E-demand.

As per the GRA, per the legitimate structure administering the activity of the e-demand - Electronic Transfer Levy Act, 2022 (Act 1075) - trader SIMs enlisted with the GRA for the reasons for Income Tax or Value Added Tax (VAT) won't be impacted by e-demand charges.

"Clients making installments to such determined shippers won't be charged the E-Levy," the GRA expressed.

"The overall population ought to take note of that E-Levy isn't charged on trader SIMs, as is being indicated. The E-Levy is just charged on an exchange from a client to a Specified Merchant in the event that the trader isn't enrolled with GRA for Income Tax or VAT purposes," it further made sense of.

The GRA further exposed claims that propose cash-ins or stores made through a shipper or merchant will draw in e-demand.

"The E-Levy doesn't have any significant bearing to Cash-Outs/cash withdrawals and Cash-Ins/cash stores either at the bank or at a portable cash specialist/seller point. This implies that Cash-Ins or stores don't draw in E-Levy and clients are NOT to pay any sum as E-Levy at a portable cash specialist/seller point."

In the mean time, the Authority is empowering the overall population to enroll for their Ghana Card and update their portable cash wallets and ledgers with their Ghana Card Personal Identification Munber (PIN).

It additionally approached portable cash traders to enroll with GRA for Income Tax or VAT so their clients can appreciate E-Levy exceptions.
