According to reports, Neymar has exercised a contract extension option at Paris Saint-Germain, putting an end to rumors over the Brazilian forward's future.
Following rumours that PSG had informed the player that he was no longer wanted, the 30-year-old has been linked with a move to clubs like Chelsea and Newcastle.
Neymar appears to be the most vulnerable of the renowned front three, with Lionel Messi's spot safe and Kylian Mbappe having agreed to stay after signing a bumper new deal worth an enormous £650,000 a week. The French giants are trying to free-up cash to pursue their summer targets, and Neymar appears to be the most vulnerable of the trio.
Additionally, Mbappe's contract grants him the right to participate actively in the club's strategic decision-making.
Neymar, who moved to Paris in 2017 for a record-breaking £199.8 million, has reportedly been informed that he is no longer needed as PSG looks to make a new beginning. This is according to RMC Sport.
Earlier this summer, when Al-Khelaifi spoke out about PSG's failures from the previous campaign and was apparently considering leaving the Parc des Princes, Neymar reportedly felt targeted by the club president.
However, according to the Sport publication, Neymar has decided to use the contract option, which would keep him in Paris through 2027.
Neymar has a contract with PSG through 2025 after extending it in 2021. Given that he is thought to be under contract for £24 million annually, any prospective suitors who want to sign the Brazil star will have to go deep into their coffers.
The attacker scored 13 league goals in 22 league games while playing for PSG in their championship season last year despite missing time with an ankle ailment from December to February.
However, Neymar, along with superstars Mbappe, Lionel Messi, and Marco Verratti, failed to end the club's Champions League trophy drought once more.
Neymar maybe leaving this summer? I can tell you that we expect all players to perform significantly better than they did last year. Much more! This week, Al Khelaifi told Le Parisien.
