TOTTENHAM NEWS UPDATE

Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster, Yves Bissouma, and most recently Richarlison from Everton were all acquired by Tottenham during the summer transfer window on free contracts.

However, Antonio Conte is known to want his top targets in place before Spurs depart for their preseason tour of South Korea on July 9. He will be hoping to see a lot more strengthening before the window closes.

Conte is rumored to be searching for a new right wing-back, left center-back, and central defender after making improvements between the sticks, at left wing-back, and in the engine room.

Tottenham's top objectives this summer for the left-center defender position were Alessandro Bastoni and Josko Gvardiol, but both now appear to be unattainable.

Spurs may visit Clement Lenglet as a backup late in the transfer window, although Pau Torres, Evan Ndicka, and Piero Hincapie are the more obvious targets.

Although Wilfried Singo and Jonathan Clauss continue to be candidates for the right wingback position, Djed Spence seems to be the clear frontrunner.

Rumor has it that Gleison Bremer's reps will be in London this week to perhaps speak with Spurs about a center-back opening.

Anthony Gordon has also been mentioned recently, in the meantime.

So, assuming all goes as planned, here is what next season might look like:

Hugo Lloris, goalkeeper

After Pierluigi Gollini's loan period ended, Forster was obviously brought in as the Frenchman's assistant. Despite being 35 years old, Lloris is still the club captain and possibly in his greatest shape.

Djed Spence, right wing-back

Djed Spence's transfer to Middlesbrough has taken much longer than Spurs supporters had thought since Tottenham and Boro are still at odds about price. This could end up being an important homegrown acquisition for the Lilywhites.

Cristian Romero is the right center back.

However, Cristian Romero's aggressive, front-foot style of defending seems to be a match made in heaven. Centre-backs frequently take a season to adjust to the pace of the Premier League.

Eric Dier, center back
Eric Dier, one of the season's biggest surprises, appears to have settled into the central sweeper position, which is a cross between his midfield and defensive roles.

Piero Hincapie, right center back

Tottenham may redirect their focus to emerging Ecuador and Bayer Leverkusen star Hincapie after a strong debut Bundesliga season if their main targets continue to elude them.

Ivan Perisic, left wing-back

Perisic  fits the bill perfectly. Conte is known for favoring acquisitions that immediately benefit the team. He will probably start out as the left wing-back for Inter Milan after playing under the Italian.

Rodrigo Bentancur, central midfielder

Last season, Rodrigo Bentancur went unnoticed by opposing supporters, but he was crucial to Tottenham's push for the top four by offering a wonderful balance of inventiveness and determination in the centre of the pitch.

Yves Bissouma, central midfielder

Few in the Premier League today can compete with Yves Bissouma in terms of box-to-box midfielders, so Tottenham did well to acquire him for a relatively low cost.

Straight ahead Richarlison: CF

Richarlison, Tottenham's fourth summer acquisition, will probably rotate with Kulusevski, Son, and Kane in that front three, or perhaps team up with Kane in a Conte 3-5-2.

Harry Kane, striker

Surprise, Harry Kane will continue to be listed first on the Spurs team roster.

Son Heung-min, left to forward

Son proved last season that he is no longer just a warm-up player for Kane by outperforming the English captain and elevating himself to the same level of elite play.

9-person bench

Ben Davies, Matt Doherty, Ryan Sessegnon, Fraser Forster, Dejan Kulusevski, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, and Gleison Bremer.
