As of today, July 1, 2022, the Golden Tulip Hotels in Accra and Kumasi will operate under the name Lancaster Hotel.
This comes after the hotel was sold to a group of Lebanese businessmen.
GLAHCO, a joint venture between the governments of Ghana and Libya, controlled the Golden Tulip Hotels in Accra and Kumasi. According to records in the hands of Joy Business, GLAHCO has totally sold its franchise to a Lebanese business. Before the hotel was sold, the governments of Ghana and Libya each held 60% and 40%, respectively, of the buildings.
The Lancaster Accra City Hotel and the Lancaster Kumasi City Hotel will be their new names. "Achour Holding Limited operating as Lancaster Hotels will be the new lessee and will take effect from July 1, 2022, with the same circumstances as previously announced," the General Manager said in a letter to the department heads.
To guarantee the new business's successful launch, "we implore you to support it," the message continued.
The Lancaster Hotel will now be known as the Golden Tulip Hotel, according to a subsequent letter from Lucy Ahedor, Manager of the Rooms Division of the Golden Tulip Hotel. We also want to reassure you that this adjustment won't interfere with the hotel's regular operations.
"We are pleased to also announce that the hotel will undergo renovations by upgrading most of the facilities," she continued.
On July 1, 2022, at the company's headquarters, certain hotel staff members who talked to Joy Business on the condition of anonymity verified the sale and name change of the hotel.
However, they promised to make their stance on the transaction clear by the end of the next week.
According to sources close to Joy Business, several government officials were in charge of the deal.
