Kennedy Agyapong, a member of parliament for Assin Central, has stated that, should he be elected president, no family members will hold positions of authority in his administration.

The congressman claims that he would run for president and, if elected, will take a strong stand against discipline and corruption.

He emphasised that he would not assign any family members to positions of authority, adding that even his wife, who was sat in the room (a radio station studio), would return to being a housewife if she misbehaved in her role as First Lady.

"No one in my family will hold public office. You will be sacked when the time comes, according to Agyapong, who has declared his intention to run as the NPP's flagbearer in the 2024 elections.

At an interview that was conducted on June 24, 2022, before a programme in the regional centre of the Bono Region, where he served as the keynote speaker, he delivered the remarks.

The purpose of the event was to inspire young people and share his life experiences with them.

The president is said to appoint his family members and close friends, who he cannot remove if necessary, under the present administration's "family and friends" slogan.

The most recent request for the president to move against an appointed relative comes from former president Mahama, who wants the president's cousin and finance minister Ken Ofori-Atta fired.

Ken Agyapong declares his candidacy for NPP leader

In May 2022, Kennedy Agyapong formally declared his candidacy for the NPP flagbearership via a Facebook video put on the Announcer Newspaper's wall.

He said, among other things, that he was the ideal candidate to assist the NPP in breaking the eight, which was a reference to continuing in power after the Fourth Republic's two-term cycle.

However, Agyapong had already said that he will leave the legislative body once the present term ends in 2025.

The declaration in August 2020 indicated that Agyapong had intended to leave Parliament after serving the Central Region constituency for 24 years.

His major motivation for leaving, according to him, was a combination of dissatisfaction and a desire to let someone individual strive to accomplish as much as he achieved during his term.
