For frontline employees of financial institutions taking part in the YouStart Event, a three-day training programme has been organised in Accra. The training, which is being conducted by the Ghana Association of Banks (GAB) in coordination with the Ministry of Finance through the YouStart Secretariat, aims to improve staff members' abilities to provide excellent customer service and better prepare them to deal with the anticipated high volume of applicants once the Government YouStart programme is fully operational.
An programme of the Ghanaian government called YouStart helps young people between the ages of 18 and 40 establish profitable enterprises. All young people with Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) as well as people with business ideas they'd want to convert into successful ventures are welcome to apply.
Beneficiaries will get funding for loans to launch and/or grow their own enterprises as well as training in the fundamentals of entrepreneurship and business management. Through this programme, the government wants to generate one million new employment over the next three years.
The three-day training programme was formally launched by Mr. John Awuah, CEO of GAB, who took care to emphasise the importance of the frontline personnel in the program's effective execution.
He revealed that the Ministry of Finance had taken action through the YouStart Secretariat to guarantee that new firms in need of support from the Registrar General's Department and other pertinent state departments received it.
Officials of the participating financial institutions as well as members from the YouStart Secretariat gave presentations.
The Electronic Transactions Levy is used to partially support the YouStart initiative (E-levy). The YouStart Commercial Programme (CP), the YouStart District Entrepreneurship Programme (DEP), and the YouStart Grace Programme will be its three sub-programs.
A group of commercial banks led by the Ghana Association of Banks is collaborating to execute YouStart Commercial (GAB).
Another example is the YouStart District Entrepreneurship Programme, which supports new businesses as well as rural firms, people with viable business ideas, and group businesses. It is based on the geographic distribution of MMDAs around the nation.
The YouStart Grace Program, which is led by faith-based organisations like churches and mosques, is a third approach. It focuses on offering technical skill training and business development help to people and enterprises so they may grow their firms and become employed.
