Free agent XI: 11 Elite Players out of contract this summer

Since the summer transfer market is now completely open and the hefty costs associated with player transfers are no longer breaking news, it is certain that deals will be made. Ahead of the new season, clubs all around the world will be looking to improve their teams. To compensate, clubs may search for a free agent this summer as transfer finances are likely to be at a premium as usual. They are fortunate that some outstanding players are available because some famous people have declined contracts with their current teams. Let's take a look at the 11 unsigned players who may make a strong team, as shown on Transfer Markt, from Paul Pogba to Christian Eriksen, Ousmane Dembele, and Dybala.

GOALKEEPER

Lazio's Thomas Strakosha

Thomas Strakosha, Lazio's starting goalkeeper, left the Italian powerhouse after eight seasons last year. Strakosha, who switched from Salernitana to Lazio in 2015, is currently without a club. Chelsea and Fulham of the English Premier League have been mentioned as potential destinations for the Albanian international. But this summer, Fulham is the front-runner to sign him for nothing.

DEFENDERS

Chelsea's Andreas Christensen

The top defenders are all free agents now that the international representative for Denmark's national team's contract with Chelsea has expired. Andreas Christensen was a member of the Chelsea youth team; however, he spent time on loan at Borussia Monchengladbach before returning to Chelsea. Later, he agreed to a four-year deal with the Blues, but he intends to leave the team in order to receive more playing time, thus there won't be a renewal. He currently prefers to travel to Barcelona, and Chelsea is already looking for a successor.

Burnley's James Tarkowski

James Tarkowski, the standout player for Burnley, is also out of a contract with the English Premier League club that was relegated last year. He is a major target for certain English teams looking to bolster their defensive line, and clubs like Newcastle and West Ham are reportedly interested in signing him.

Romagnoli, Alessio - AC Milan

Alessio Romagnoli, 27, left AC Milan this summer with a strong record despite his time there having come to an end. After helping Milan win the Serie A championship last season, the AC Milan defender would undoubtedly receive a significant transfer transfer this summer. Due to his key defensive performance, Alessio Romagnoli is now on the transfer wish lists of all the major European teams.

Paul Pogba of Manchester United is a middlefielder.

Paul Pogba, the standout player for Manchester United, will not be playing for the Red Devils in the upcoming season after his contract's renewal was turned down. Pogba began his career at United as an academy student before transferring to Juventus, where he made his name as a premier midfielder.

He did, however, come back to Manchester United in 2016 and has since been an excellent acquisition. However, the Frenchman only recently disclosed that he won't extend his contract since United didn't value him as much as they ought to have. Paul Pogba is reportedly interested in a free transfer to Juventus and is expected to agree to a four-year contract with the Italian powerhouse.

AC Milan's Franck Kessie

Another AC Milan player whose contract has expired and who is prepared to take on fresh challenges with a different team is Franck Kessie. Kessie was a member of AC Milan's Serie A championship team, although he has been linked to a transfer to an English Premier League team. Although no deal has been accepted, Barcelona is in prime position to sign the midfielder.

Manchester United's Jesse Lingard

Jesse Lingard is typical of Manchester United players in that they are hesitant to extend their contracts. In an effort to keep the player, United blocked the transfer of the Englishman during the January transfer window. After a productive loan stint at West Ham, Lingard struggled upon his return to Old Trafford. The England international is presently looking for a new club after new boss Erik ten Hag indicated that he won't be in his plans for next season.

Brentford's Christian Eriksen

Christian Eriksen, a former Tottenham Hotspur player, has an unfinished contract with Brentford. The international from Denmark mutually terminated his contract with Inter Milan in 2020 and made the decision to sign a one-year deal with Brentford. The contract expired at the conclusion of the previous campaign, leaving him without a club at this time. While Brentford wants to extend his contract, Manchester United is reportedly interested in the midfielder.

Barça's Ousmane Dembele

Dembele, who switched from Borussia Dortmund to Spanish powerhouse Barcelona in 2018, is currently a free agent after his contract expired. Due to his subpar play at the club, the Frenchman's contract with Barcelona is not expected to be renewed. He came in as one of the young, talented players but suffered the entire time he was in Spain. PSG and Chelsea have been rumored destinations for Ousmane Dembele.

FORWARDS

Juventus' Paulo Dybala

Paulo Dybala, who moved to Juventus from Palermo in 2015 and quickly rose to the top of the team, has now made the decision to quit the Old Lady. Arsenal is one possible destination for the Argentina international, who has expressed interest in heading to the Premier League. The North London team has not yet signed an official contract with him, though.
