Belgium born Ghanaian right-back, Dennis Odoi in his formative years had no father figure at he after a divorce between his mother and father at age 12. He explains the divorce made life a living hell for him at that early stages of his life.
Despite the frosty father-son relationship, Dennis Odoi switched nationality earlier this year to play for Ghana which is his fatherland and has made appearances in matches for the Black Stars of Ghana.
Dennis Odoi has disclosed he does not talk with his father.
"My father and I don't talk anymore. I blame him for certain things, like when I became a professional football player and made good money at Anderlecht and was annoyed with him because all he asked was, can I have money? ", he told The Times.
According to the disciplined right-back, his Dad not been present during his formative years has nutured him into a more responsible human being.
"My Dad would go out at night and come back whenever it suited him".
The 33-year-old in-form Club Brugge defender believes his father's opportunistic habit triggered the decision to cut communication ties with him. Dennis Odoi was born in Leuven to a Ghanaian father and a Belgium mother.
He explained why his mother made the decision to marry his father.
"My mother made a decision to marry my father also because she was pregnant with me and my sister. She was okay I put myself in this situation, so I have to take responsibility that is why I am very disciplined and take responsibility"
