After spending £60m, Chelsea has a shocking alternative transfer for Raphinha. Brazilian star rejects Blues in favor of Barcelona
Raphinha's future is still up in the air; it's been claimed that she wants to move to Barcelona.
After the Brazilian turned down the Blues for Barcelona, CHELSEA is preparing a shocking replacement for Raphinha.
The London club is apparently looking at Maxwel Cornet of Burnley as they search for attacking options in the summer season.
The Ivorian is reportedly looking for a new club after Burnley was relegated and may leave Turf Moor this summer, according to Talksport.
The winger's contract has a clause that may make him available for as little as £17.5 million.
Cornet has made an impression while playing for Burnley. In 26 Premier League games last season, he scored nine goals and provided one assist.
The Blues, who are still actively pursuing Raheem Sterling as they attempt to bolster their front line, may choose to go with him because of his turn of speed and finishing prowess.
Since Cornet spent a large portion of his time at his former club Lyon playing as a left-back, the 25-year-old can also provide versatility in the defense.
Cornet's shocking acquisition comes as it seems Chelsea's efforts to sign Raphinha are losing momentum.
After reaching a £55 million deal with Leeds, it appeared that new Blues owner Todd Boehly had found his man.
The Leeds winger seems to have his heart set on the Nou Camp, but Barcelona has reemerged as a threat to their quest.
However, the Catalan juggernauts seem preoccupied with transfer business on several fronts.
In addition to attempting to get their top target, Robert Lewandowski from Barcelona, they are apparently close to moving Frenkie de Jong to Manchester United in a £67 million deal.
Chelsea is also interested in Ousmane Dembele, who they hope to sign for nothing.
