Ousmane Dembele to Barcelona.
Barcelona lost Neymar to PSG before signing Ousmane Dembele. Dembele has emerged as one of Europe's most intriguing wingers in 2017 thanks to his ability to use both legs effectively.
Since Barcelona acquired the French winger, things have gotten worse. Dembele's recurring injuries have limited not only his playing time but also his professional development.
4. Real Madrid for Kaka
Real Madrid started a similar journey to the Galacticos in 2009, when they stunned everyone by signing Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, Xabi Alonso, and Kaka in the same transfer window. Unfortunately for Real Madrid, previous Ballon d'Or winner Kaka was the first to be sent off.
The Brazilian, who joined from AC Milan, was the most decorated signing. Kaka, on the other hand, never found a place to call home and was deprived of opportunities to make a difference.
3. Fernando Torres to Chelsea.
Fernando Torres was a hot prospect when he first started scoring goals for Spain and Liverpool. The Spaniard was well-known for his ability to score goals and be incisive in front of goal. Roman Abramovich paid million to entice him to Chelsea in 2011 because of his talent.
But it rained cats and dogs on the Spaniard during his five years at Chelsea. Torres ended up scoring fewer goals and producing less overall for Chelsea while playing in more games than Liverpool.
2. Eden Hazard to Real Madrid.
Eden Hazard's decision to leave Stamford Bridge on the night Chelsea defeated Arsenal to win the Europa League overshadowed the victory. The majority of people expected the Belgian to thrive in Spain's capital after joining Real Madrid.
However, things have not gone as planned thus far. Hazard's time at Real Madrid has been marred by injuries, and the playmaker continues to be ineffective. Furthermore, increased competition within the team has highlighted the difficulties.
Philippe Coutinho (Barcelona)
Coutinho set a new record for Barcelona's most expensive signing ever in January 2018, costing the Catalans 135 million euros. The Brazilian was brought in to try to replace the departing Andres Iniesta, and he had previously played for Liverpool. The transfer itself was generating buzz because Coutinho had submitted a transfer request to move to Barcelona.
But, as it turned out, the fallout was exactly the opposite. Despite his early performances, Coutinho never appeared to be on his own.
