Laporta: What about De Jong? Barcelona has no plans to sell him, and he desire to stay
Joan Laporta used his appearance at a tribute to Johan Cruyff to provide an update on Barcelona's transfer situation, insisting that Frenkie de Jong will not leave the Camp Nou this summer.
The president was optimistic about keeping De Jong, offered Ousmane Dembele an olive branch, and was cautious about Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha.
On De Jong, he deviated from the recent trend of information, and despite reports that the Dutchman is close to joining Manchester United, Laporta played it down.
"We have no plans to sell him, and he wants to stay." Manchester United are not the only ones who want him," Laporta insisted.
Regarding Robert Lewandowski, the Barcelona president acknowledged that Bayern Munich is not making things easy for him and thanked the Pole for making it clear that he wants to wear the Blaugrana shirt.
"Lewandowski is a Bayern Munich player, and I prefer to keep my thoughts to myself on this. We appreciate his interest in visiting Barcelona and are flattered "Laporta continued.
Regarding Dembele, the president stated that the club's offer to renew his contract is still valid.
"He will stay if he accepts our financial offer," Laporta said. "There are no time constraints for anything."
Raphinha's case
The president also mentioned a possible move for a player on the right wing. Raphinha has yet to arrive at the club to make a move despite having other offers.
"We spoke with Leeds, and I don't believe they will be offended. We can communicate. What happens is that other clubs want Raphinha and are making proposals to him "According to Laporta.
Gavi's rebirth
The renewal of Gavi is one issue that Barcelona is still working on. However, everything points to the situation being resolved.
"Gavi is doing fantastically well. We are very pleased with how things have progressed with Ivan De la Pena and the player "Laporta reassured Blaugrana supporters
