Joe Cole, a former Chelsea player, has slammed critics of Blues midfielder Mason Mount. He believes the Englishman has been unfairly criticized for his performance and has questioned those who refuse to admit when they are wrong.
Mount was named Chelsea's 'Player of the Season' for the 2021-22 season. As the Blues won the FIFA Club World Cup for the first time and finished third in the Premier League, the midfielder scored eleven goals and provided ten assists.
Cole was speaking to Football Daily when he slammed Mount's detractors. "That's the sign of the times in it," he explained, People are unwilling to admit they were mistaken. Anyone who does not have Mason Mount should take a good look at themselves. He's more well-rounded. Mason would be the one who adjusts the fastest if we had a time machine and put all those great players in it and then returned them to our era."

Mount said of winning the award on the club's official website: "It's been an honor for me to have completed this long journey and to now be here in the first team. The fan support and appreciation I receive means a lot to me and gives me a lot of confidence every time I step out on the field."
"Without them for over a year in the stadiums, we missed them a lot," he continued, "but I definitely felt their support from home." It was a special day for me when I was presented with the award before the Leicester game because I had the fans and my family back at the Bridge."
Mount's current deal with the Blues expires in 2024. However, reports indicate that he will soon be offered a new contract that will'more than double' Mount's current salary.
