Akufo-Addo's residency as ECOWAS seat closes, Guinea-Bissau president dominates

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will end his residency as the ECOWAS seat on Sunday, July 3, 2022, subsequent to serving two successive terms.
The ECOWAS Head of States met in Ghana for the 61st Ordinary Session at the Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel and have since chosen another seat.
During the launch of the Summit, Nana Akufo-Addo said it was a distinction to have filled in as ECOWAS Chair, especially during one of the most difficult times of its set of experiences.
"I will toward the finish of this highest point close my residency as executive of this power. It has been an incredible honor for Ghana and myself to have been offered the chance by you to serve this respectable association for two successive terms, especially at one of the most difficult times of its set of experiences.
"I have benefited massively from the fortitude of your excellencies in the release of this troublesome command which you have given on me, for which I am extremely appreciative. I will keep on having my full impact as well as could be expected in crafted by the power," he said.
President Akufo-Addo expected the Chairmanship of ECOWAS on September 7, 2020, in Niamey, Niger after Mahamadou Issoufou, previous President of Niger, finished his stewardship.
In June 2021, the command of President Akufo-Addo was reestablished by his companions for another year in light of his authentic administration and to finish progressing institutional changes designed for the decrease of the quantity of Statutory Appointees of the ECOWAS Commission from Fifteen (15) to Seven (7) as well as smooth out functional expense.
Guinea-Bissau President Umaro Sissoco Embalo has been chosen the new director of ECOWAS while Gambian negotiator Dr. Omar Touray has been chosen ECOWAS Commission administrator for the following four years. He supplanted Ivorian Jean-Claude Kassi Brou.
