Arsenal Football Club has been very busy in the transfer window this summer, with four new arrivals at the Emirates Stadium, including goalkeeper Matt Turner, Fabio Vieira from Fc Porto, and Gabriel Jesus from league rivals Manchester City. Despite all of the new arrivals, the Gunners are still interested in a number of big-name players from Europe's top leagues.
According to top Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has reportedly set his sights on improving his defense line this summer, with an official inquiry already made for 26-year-old Benfica left back Alex Grimaldo.
The Spanish international has appeared 164 times for the Portuguese giants and began his career with La Liga outfit Valencia before moving on to Spanish giants FC Barcelona, where he represented their B team between 2011 and 2015. With his contract set to expire next year, negotiations between the player's representatives and Arsenal are currently underway, and the transfer fee could cost the Gunners between £6m and £7m.
With Arteta openly admitting that he is not a fan of Nuno Tavares after his performances in the 2022/23 season and Kierney being injury prone since joining from Celtic.
