Trent Alexander-Arnold's brainy answer to Mohamed Salah's new Liverpool contract
Trent Alexander-Arnold responded brilliantly to the news that Mohamed Salah has signed a new three-year contract extension with Liverpool, admitting that he can't wait to win more trophies with his teammate.
Following a lengthy dispute between the Reds and Salah, the 30-year-old put pen to paper and extended his stay on Merseyside until 2025 on Friday, putting him on a £350,000-a-week salary and making him the club's highest-paid player in history.
The announcement comes as players return to their clubs to begin pre-season training, with Liverpool kicking off their season on July 30 in the Community Shield, as well as having friendlies this month Manchester United, Crystal Palace, RB Leipzig, RB Salzburg, and Strasbourg are among the opponents.
During his off-season, Alexander-Arnold has been in Silverstone for Sunday's British Grand Prix, his first visit to Britain's Formula One home.
When asked about Salah's contract extension ahead of the race, Alexander-Arnold, 23, expressed his delight and stated that he hopes to win more trophies during their time together at the club.
"Of course, of course," Alexander-Arnold said when asked about Salah's contract extension by Sky Sports. "Hopefully, I'll have a few more years with him to win some more trophies."
Liverpool were unlikely to let another star forward leave after selling Sadio Mane to Bayern Munich last month, but according to The Sun, interest from Chelsea prompted Jurgen Klopp's side to cave in to Salah's demands.
Todd Boehly, the new owner of the Blues, is eager to make an impact in his first summer at Stamford Bridge and has long wanted to bring in several marquee signings, including former Liverpool forward Raheem Sterling, who is set to join from Manchester City.
Richarlison was linked before his move from Everton to Tottenham, and Leeds winger Raphinha and Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo have also been mentioned.
But Boehly had also lined up Salah as a potential signing, which would have set the 30-year-old up for a sensational return to West London, eight years after his last game for the club.
