Manchester United is looking for the German forward to replace Cristiano Ronaldo
Although Manchester United are adamant about keeping Cristiano Ronaldo, winger Serge Gnabry, who turned down a new contract with Bayern, has already been identified as a potential replacement, according to the Sun (h/t the Metro).
Gnabry will soon enter the final year of his current Bayern Munich contract. He declined the opportunity to extend his contract and is now weighing his options. With Manchester United showing interest in the winger, a return to the Premier League is possible.
Manchester United have reportedly shortlisted Gnabry as a possible replacement for Ronaldo, amid fears that the Portuguese star will leave in the summer transfer window.
It would be a fatal blow for Manchester United, who are interested in the German forward, to learn that they are not the only ones monitoring his condition right now; Manchester City are as well. Pep Guardiola's team is expected to lose two key forwards in Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus this summer, and Gnabry could join them.
Given the Red Devils' current situation, Gnabry would be a wise option to have, despite Jadon Sancho being a strong contender to play down the flank.
Although Gnabry can play in a variety of attacking positions, his services may be required in the middle. We are in need of a striker with an ideal age profile, and Gnabry has proven for and in Germany that he can play in the position with distinction.
While Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata have left this summer, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Elanga need competition. Due to Mason Greenwood’s suspension, we now have even more reasons for actively pursuing Gnabry in the future.
Gnabry would certainly be a smart choice to have at Old Trafford and we can offer him the chance to redeem himself in England after having a failed spell at Arsenal. These seem like early days in this Gnabry saga but this is certainly one to keep an eye out on.
Wantaway has been told by that he must attend the club's upcoming pre-season tour of Australia and , according to reports.
The Portuguese star stunned Old Trafford on Saturday by telling the club he wants to leave, frustrated both by the lack of new signings and bewildered by the club's decision to appoint three managers in quick after the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The Red Devils, who returned to pre-season training at the start of the week following a disappointing sixth place finish last campaign, jet off on a two-and-a-half week tour on Friday.
