We shall give precedence to other pilgrims over those who left money with us, Chairman of the Haj Board
After being left at the Hajj village for hours, several Muslim pilgrims have expressed dissatisfaction with the Hajj Board.
They claim that although the board has purposefully left their names off of the final list of travellers and is also holding their passports, they were supposed to travel to Mecca.
The majority of them, who are thought to be members of the 2019 cohort who paid before the pilgrim ban, are requesting a refund from the board.
The 2019 group was supposed to be given priority by the Hajj boards last month, but despite evidence of their documentation, they have not yet been evacuated.
"They stated they couldn't locate my passport; I'm crushed, and while I try not to cry, it's difficult. Although it was promised that individuals who paid in 2019 would be among the first passengers, this did not occur.
"The procedure is probably not as holy as the action itself, notwithstanding the issue's overall holiness. I'm sitting here without any hope right now. According to a pilgrim, "this time we are not going to leave the money with them," according to myjoyonline.com.
Before the restriction, some pilgrims paid money to the Hajj Board, according to Sheikh Ibrahim C. Quaye, chairman of the board. Such individuals, he stated, were required to pay GH7000.00 in addition to the prior GH19,500 payment.
Additionally, he stated that pilgrims who paid before the prohibition will be given preference.
"All participating nations' quotas have been significantly cut when the Hajj prohibition was abolished this year. We would give those who left their money with us first consideration before any other pilgrims since Ghana has a quota of 3,069 rather than the 6,000 pilgrims allowed under the 2020 quota, he added.
However, such has not been the case since many people from the previous batch were excluded when the prohibition was removed for the journey this year.
